BigOven.com is a website that describes itself as a social network that will make you a better cook. In order to get the full benefit of the app, then, you’ll need to sign up online. Once you are registered, you’ll be able to use BigOven to browse recipes, create shopping lists and mark interesting dishes to try soon.
Visually, the BigOven app isn't much to look at. It's unattractive and pretty badly designed – in order to see the app's features, you must hit the menu button first. BigOven will let you search or browse its recipes. Once you've found them, you can add them to your Try Soon list, mark them as favorites or narrow the search with the Leftover Wizard. In order to use the Grocery List function, however, you’ll need to be a member of BigOven Pro.
If you're already an enthusiastic BigOven.com member, installing this app is a good idea. It gives you access to your recipes on the go, and syncs automatically, so website and phone are always updated. If you’re not already a dedicated fan, however, don't bother. It's ugly, often struggles to connect and lacks anything even resembling a stand-out feature.
